aBOUT THE CATSKILL MOUNTAIN STRING BAND

The Catskill Mountain String Band is a Hudson Valley quartet who perform lively Bluegrass, Country and Old-time favorites on banjo, guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro and bass. These fellers bring a whirlwind of tight harmonies and high-energy picking to every show. Their appearances are a whirlwind of foot-stomping rhythms and evocative melodies, drawing influences from Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs and contemporary innovators alike.

Hailing from the rugged environs of the Hudson Valley, the band’s music evokes the spirit of its namesake: mountain ridges, rushing streams, and dark hollows are wound with the timeless sound of Appalachian roots.
